1. Nature of the Service
Austin Residents Directory is a privately run reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections relevant to Austin, Minnesota. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with a public office, court, or custodian.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or material reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
- Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
- Interfere with the site's operation or security
3. Consumer Reporting Status
This service is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here or returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report, and it may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.
4. Links to Outside Sites
Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content, uptime, fees, or data handling.
5. No Warranties
The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties. We do not promise that its content is complete, current, or accurate, or that a linked portal will work or return correct information.
6. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the service or a linked resource, including decisions based on records reached through it.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links and brief attributed quotations are welcome, but full-page republication or systematic copying is not permitted.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Continued use after that posting means acceptance.
10. Cutting Off Access
We may restrict or block access by a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at our discretion and without advance notice.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by Minnesota law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Austin and Mower County public-data requests are subject to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minn. Stat. ch. 13, especially §13.03, and its access classifications.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
